Located an hour and a half from the 400 and 401 highways in Toronto, Six Mile Lake lies in the Township of Georgian Bay in the District  Municipality of Muskoka. Access  is fast and safe thanks to the new 400 highway extension that provides four wide lanes for holiday traffic. The average depth of Six Mile Lake is 26 feet with depths approaching 160 feet. The water level is controlled through a series of dams. Every fall the level of the water is dropped by 3 feet and raised again in the spring. Six Mile Lake has about 856 cottages and 22% of the lake is held in crown reserve. The lake quality is excellent and is classified as mesotrophic, which means only moderate levels of chlorophyll and phosphorus. The water of the lake is crystal blue in the summer and you can see the fish...small and large mouth bass, yellow perch, walleye, northern pike and muskellunge.
